The past year has seen a dramatic change in the operational facets of the organisation. Production output has doubled to the point where we now convert over 600 tonnes per week and our warehousing and distribution are working at ever increasing levels. August saw despatches of almost 5,000 tonnes.

This increase in output has only been made possible due to the flexibility and dedication of our production department.

In production, Steve Rathbone has recruited and implemented new shifts which means that we now work throughout the week with a break in conversion of only 8 hours on Sundays. We work night shifts on two of the sheeters as well as on the rewinder and are now looking at further recruitment by expanding our wrapping function.

Tony Gwilt has increased staffing in the warehousing and distribution to address the changes in the ordering pattern of our customers which have altered dramatically with the tail end of the day and early evening becoming the peak period. We now staff the warehouse throughout the night and into Saturday night as well to handle the increased production output.

With such changes in both volumes and patterns there has obviously been a major impact on our transport function. Dave Gough now has two of our own lorries at his disposal and together with the partnership with our key haulier, Mainline Distribution, we are handling the increased volume of distribution as well as offering same day deliveries within the Midlands area.
